Honoring David Montgomery at the First Game of Phillies-Brewers Series (5/13-16)

The Phillies are back in town! The homestand begins with a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers, May 13-16, at Citizens Bank Park. Here’s a look at what’s happening around the ballpark:

  1. On Monday, May 13, the Phillies game kicks off at 7:05 p.m. Fans are invited to pay tribute to David Montgomery during a moment of silence for the club’s beloved chairman.
  • In honor of David Montgomery, who died at the age of 72 on May 8 after a courageous five-year battle with cancer, the Phillies will be giving all fans a commemorative scorecard in his memory. Montgomery kept score of every Phillies game during his career in baseball, which spanned nearly half a century.
  • The evening is also Game of Thrones® Night and your moment to be king! Fans have the chance to sit on the GOT® Iron Throne, located behind Section 210. Characters will also be on site to add to the fun.
  • It’s Miller Lite Monday: enjoy specials that include $1 off 24 oz. Miller Lite cans.
  1. The final Hatfield Phillies Franks Dollar Dog Night of the season is on Tuesday, May 14, during the 7:05 p.m. game – and the Student Steal ticket offer is back by popular demand! Other highlights: take part in NASCAR fun on Citizens Bank Way and cheer on NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Justin Allgaier during his ceremonial first pitch.

·        Be on the lookout for the Phanatic with his hot dog launcher in the 5th inning. Plus, $1 hot dogs for all!

·        To kick off the NASCAR Xfinity Series Philadelphia Takeover, fans can take part in some great NASCAR opportunities on Citizens Bank Way. This includes interactive displays plus the chance to take photos with the Dover International Speedway and Pocono Raceway pace cars. Fans can also see Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s throwback No. 8 Chevrolet that he will race later this season! Also meet NASCAR Xfinity Series veteran Justin Allgaier who is coming off a career-best season with JR Motorsports in 2018, and will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch!

·        The Phillies are offering a Student Steal for May 14: a $20 ticket, plus the first jawn on us! That means that Chickie’s & Pete’s Crab Fries, Shake Shack, Bull’s BBQ, Tony Luke’s, hot dog and soda – basically anything you can eat or drink at Citizens Bank Park – is included with your ticket (up to $12).   1. On Wednesday, May 15, Bruce Willis will be at the ballpark for the ceremonial first pitch! Plus, competitors from NBC’s American Ninja Warrior will be joining its host Akbar Gbajabiamila in The Yard for pre-game and in-game fun.

·        Actor and musician Bruce Willis will take the field for the ceremonial first pitch.

·        Meet the host of “American Ninja Warrior,” Akbar Gbajabiamila, who will be signing copies of his new book, Everyone Can Be a Ninja, in The Yard in right field. Joining Akbar will be warriors from the popular NBC show, who will sign autographs and take part in ninja fun. Among the ninjas participating are Najee Richardson, Chris Wilczewski, Rachel Goldstein, Cara Poalillio, Joe Capo, Clint Sarion, Abby Clark and Brian Wilczewski.

  1. On Thursday, May 16, the game is 1:05 p.m. and that means it’s a Citizens Bank Businessperson’s Special and #ThrowbackThursday! Plus, more than 13,000 kids are coming to the ballpark for Citizens Bank Weather Education Day Presented by NBC10/Telemundo62 First Alert Weather!

·        The ballpark is going retro! In honor of the day, meet 1983 National League Championship Series MVP Gary “Sarge” Matthews, 12:30 – 1:00 p.m., at Pass and Stow adjacent to the Third Base Plaza. On the field, Phillies players will wear a 1980s-era powder blue uniform and burgundy cap. Ballgirls and the grounds crew will also be dressed in retro outfits, and the field will feature retro batting circles and base jewels. Plus, PhanaVision will be going retro with logos, music, player headshots and more.

1.     Lots of fun for Weather Education Day! Take photos with the NBC10 StormRanger on Citizens Bank Way, plus be a meteorologist at the NBC10 Green Screen and participate in weather-related activities with the Franklin Institute at the First Base Plaza. Also, meteorologist Glenn “Hurricane” Schwartz will throw the ceremonial first pitch.

  1. Throughout the series, take photos of Billy Joel’s piano, as well as bid on game-used and signed memorabilia up for bid as part of the 2019 Phans Feeding Families initiative.

·        Take photos with the Piano Man’s signature Steinway & Sons piano, on display in the First Base elevator lobby, in honor of his upcoming concert and stadium residency on May 24 at Citizens Bank Park.

·        Bid on new and game-used autographed memorabilia during the Phillies Charities, Inc. Auction benefitting Philabundance, which is part of the Phans Feeding Families initiative. Bid via the MLB Ballpark app until May 31. Featured items include those signed by Aaron Nola, Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, Rhys Hoskins and more.

Other need-to-know information:

  • Gate Openings: Main gates open 1½ hours prior to game time every day. Ashburn Alley and a portion of the Third Base Gate granting access to Pass and Stow open 2 hours before every game. The entrance to Ashburn Alley is the Left Field Gate.
  • Parking Lot Openings: All parking lots open 5 hours prior to game time. 
  • Broadcast Information: The games on May 13-16 will be broadcast on NBCSP, WIP (94.1 FM) and WTTM (1680 AM - Spanish), with the game on May 13 also aired on ESPN. Games are available via live stream for authenticated subscribers on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s new MyTeams app.
