Braves' Kevin Gausman disciplined, has filed appeal

May 6th, 2019

Atlanta Braves pitcher Kevin Gausman has received a five-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally throwing a pitch at José Ureña of the Miami Marlins during the bottom of the second inning of Friday night’s game at Marlins Park in Miami. Joe Torre, Chief Baseball Officer for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Gausman’s suspension had been scheduled to begin being served tonight, when the Braves begin their series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. However, he has elected to file an appeal. Thus, the discipline issued to Gausman will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
