CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the 2017 Major League roster:
Recalled LHP RYAN MERRITT (#54) from Triple-A Columbus.
Optioned OF TYLER NAQUIN to Triple-A Columbus.
Merritt, 25, has spent most of the 2017 regular season with AAA Columbus, posting a mark of 7-5 with a 3.36 ERA in 15 games/14 starts (93.2IP, 97H, 35ER, 25BB, 72SO). Over his last 7 starts for the Clippers since May 21 he is 4-1 with a 2.31 ERA (46.2IP, 42H, 12ER). Today marks his third stint at the Major League level in 2017 (June 17; July 1) as he made one spot start in the day game of a doubleheader at Minnesota on June 17 (ND, 4.0IP, 7H, 3R/2ER, 0BB, 2SO).
Naquin, 26, has appeared for 9 games for Cleveland this season, batting .200 (5-25) with one double and 3 runs scored. He is hitting .309 (38-123) with 4 doubles, 2 triples, 5 homers and 16 RBI in 35 games for AAA Columbus.
