Mariners open 2020 60-game season on July 24 at Houston

First game at T-Mobile Park is Friday, July 31 vs. Oakland

The Seattle Mariners open the 2020 60-game season on Friday, July 24, with a seven-game road trip that starts in Houston for four games against the Astros and concludes with a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels at Anaheim July 28-30.

The Mariners return to T-Mobile Park on Friday, July 31 for the home opener against the Oakland Athletics. The 10-game opening homestand includes four games against the A’s (July 31-August 3), three against the Angels (August 4-6) and three against the National League Colorado Rockies (August 7-9).

Until further notice, there will be no fans at games at T-Mobile Park.

All-West Matchups

With the compact 60-game schedule, all Major League Baseball teams will play within their geographic regions. The Mariners schedule includes 40 games against the American League West and 20 games against the National League West.

During the 2020 season, the Mariners will host every N.L. West team except the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Mariners only meeting with the Diamondbacks is in Phoenix September 11-13.

The Mariners will play a back-to-back two-game road and home series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in L.A. August 17-18, and at T-Mobile Park on August 19-20.

The Mariners will travel to San Francisco for two games against the Giants on September 8-9 and meet again in Seattle September 15-16.

In addition to the Giants, the final T-Mobile Park homestand includes the San Diego Padres (September 18-20) and Astros (September 21-23). The Mariners finish out the 2020 season with a three-game road trip to Oakland.

Home Start Times

The majority of Mariners home games will start at 6:10pm or 6:40pm. There are a few weekday games that start before 6:10pm to accommodate travel for the visiting team. All Sunday home games start at 1:10pm.

New Rules

Both American and National League teams will play with a universal designated hitter and extra-inning games will begin with a designated runner on second base for each half-inning beginning in the 10th inning. There are no rules or restrictions on position players pitching in 2020, and any pitcher who enters a game must face at least three batters or finish the inning before they can be removed from the game. Five teams from each league will advance to the postseason.
