Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:
•    Aríel Miranda, LHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma. 
•    Taylor Motter, INF/OF, optioned to AAA Tacoma. 
Miranda (#37) is scheduled to start tonight's (7:10 pm PT) game against the Houston Astros at Safeco Field.
Miranda, 29, will be making his 2018 Mariners debut tonight against the Houston Astros. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound left-hander made 1 start with high-A Modesto on April 6, allowing 5 runs (1 earned run) on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 in 5.0 innings pitched. He also made 1 start with AAA Tacoma (April 11), tossing 4.0 innings and allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while walking 3 and striking out 2. 
In 2017, Miranda was 8-7 with a 5.12 ERA (91 ER, 160.0 IP) with 137 strikeouts and 63 walks in 31 games, including 29 starts, with the Mariners. It marked his first full season in the Major Leagues, as he led the club in starts and innings pitched while ranking 2nd in wins and strikeouts. In parts of two Major League seasons with the Orioles (2016) and Mariners (2016-c), Miranda is 13-9 with a 4.79 ERA (116 ER, 218.0 IP) with 181 strikeouts and 81 walks in 43 career appearances (39 starts). A native of Havana, Cuba, he originally signed with Baltimore as a non-drafted free agent on May 27, 2015. He was acquired by Seattle from Baltimore in exchange for LHP Wade Miley on July 31, 2016. 
Motter, 28, hit .267 (4x15) with 2 runs, 1 home run and 1 RBI in 7 games with the Mariners after being recalled from AAA Tacoma on April 3. On April 9 at Kansas City, he made his 2nd career pitching appearance, allowing 1 run in 1.0 inning. 
In parts of three Major League seasons with Tampa Bay (2016) and Seattle (2017-c), Taylor is a career .198 (70x353) hitter with 10 home runs and 36 RBI in 132 career MLB games. He was selected by Tampa Bay in the 17th round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Coastal Carolina University and made his Major League debut with the Rays on May 16, 2016 at Toronto.
