SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:
- Stuart Fairchild (#17), OF, selected from Triple-A Tacoma.
- Luke Raley, INF/OF, placed on 10-day Injured List (left forearm strain, retroactive to July 31).
The Mariners 40-man roster is now at 39 players.
Fairchild, 30, has appeared in 12 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, posting a 1.058 OPS in 53 plate appearances. The right-handed hitting outfielder was signed to a minor league contract by the Mariners on July 5 after spending time in the Cleveland Guardians organization earlier this season.
The Seattle native attended Seattle Preparatory School and previously spent time in the Mariners organization in 2022, which included three games in the Majors with Seattle.
He was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2nd round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Wake Forest University (NC). Fairchild has spent big league time with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2021), Mariners (2022), San Francisco Giants (2022), Reds (2022-24), Atlanta Braves (2025) and Guardians (2026), batting .221 (135x610) with 94 runs, 33 doubles, 4 triples, 18 homers, 69 RBI, 27 stolen bases and 62 walks in 291 games.
Raley, 31, has appeared in 95 games with the Mariners this season, posting a .723 OPS and 105 OPS+ while batting .225 (59x262) with 28 runs, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 15 home runs, 39 RBI and 15 walks. The left-handed hitting outfielder has appeared in 68 games in right field this season.
Raley was acquired by the Mariners on Jan. 5, 2024 from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for infielder José Caballero. In 305 games with Seattle, he is batting .229 (194x849) with 109 runs, 36 doubles, 3 triples, 41 home runs, 116 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 61 walks with a .732 OPS and 111 OPS+.
The Hinckley, Ohio native was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 7th round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Lake Erie College (OH). The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder made his Major League debut with the Dodgers in 2021, also spending time with the Tampa Bay Rays (2022-23).
