Mariners select RHP Erik Goeddel from AAA Tacoma

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster move:
•    Erik Goeddel, RHP, selected from AAA Tacoma. 
Goeddel (#62) will be in uniform and available for tonight's (7:10 pm PT) game vs, the Oakland Athletics at Safeco Field. 
Seattle's Major League, 40-man roster remains at 38 players. 
Goeddel, 29, is 1-0 with 4 saves in 9 relief appearances with AAA Tacoma this season. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-hander has not allowed a run over 9.0 innings of work with the Rainiers while striking out 10 and walking 4. He has held opposing right-handed batters to a .190 (4x21) average against while opposing lefties are hitting just .182 (2x11) off him. He signed a minor league contract with the Mariners on March 20, 2018. He began the 2018 Cactus League season with Texas after signing with the Rangers as a minor league free agent on Dec. 19, 2017. 
Goeddel has appeared in parts of 4 Major League seasons with the New York Mets (2014-17), posting a record of 3-4 with a 3.96 ERA (46 ER, 104.2 IP) with 109 strikeouts and 38 walks in 110 career relief appearances. He has limited opposing batters to a .226 (88x390) average against during his Major League career while averaging 9.37 strikeouts-per-9.0-innings (109 K, 104.2 IP). The native of San Mateo, CA, was originally selected by the Mets in the 24th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of UCLA, where he was teammates with Trevor Bauer, Gerrit Cole and Rob Rasmussen. Goeddel was a part of the 2010 UCLA squad that advanced to the finals of the College World Series. He made his Major League debut with the Mets on Sept. 1, 2014 at Miami.
