Marlins Jr. RBI presented by UHealth Sports Medicine Institute to begin 2019 season on Monday, April 8

MIAMI – Opening Day festivities begin on Monday, April 8 with the start of the 2019 season for Miami Marlins Jr. RBI presented by UHealth Sports Medicine Institute. Marlins Jr. RBI presented by UHealth, which is a free youth outreach program for children ages 5 through 12, is designed to increase participation and interest in baseball and softball, encourage academic achievement and teach the value of teamwork. Games are played Mondays through Thursdays, beginning April 8.

The program consists of teams from 12 local leagues, and play at the following parks: José Martí Park (362 SW 4 Street), Hadley Park (1300 NW 50 Street), Shenandoah Park (1800 SW 21 Avenue) or Williams Park (1717 NW 5 Avenue). The 12 participating leagues are:

Dorsey Park – 1701 N.W. 1 Street

Legion Park – 6447 N.E. 7 Avenue

Reeve Park – 600 N.W. 10 Street

Robert King High – 7025 W. Flagler Street

Shenandoah Park – 1800 S.W. 21 Avenue

Duarte Park – 1776 N.W. 28 Street

Kinloch Park – 455 N.W. 47 Avenue

Grapeland Park – 1550 N.W. 37 Avenue

Fern Isle Park – 2201 N.W 11 Street

Helping Hands – 6304 N.W. 14 Avenue

Liberty Square – 6304 N.W. 14 Avenue

Overtown Optimist Club – 1717 NW 5 Avenue

Participants enjoy a fun and instructional spring league, clinics hosted by Marlins players and alumni, an invitation to Jr. RBI Night presented by UHealth at Marlins Park, and the opportunity to participate in MLB programs, such as Pitch, Hit and Run and the Jr. Home Run Derby.
