Mets acquire RHP Ryder Ryan from Cleveland in exchange for Jay Bruce

The New York Mets announced tonight that they have acquired minor league RHP Ryder Ryan from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for outfielder Jay Bruce. Ryan will be assigned to Columbia (A) of the South Atlantic League.

FLUSHING, N.Y., August 9, 2017 - The New York Mets announced tonight that they have acquired minor league RHP Ryder Ryan from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for outfielder Jay Bruce. Ryan will be assigned to Columbia (A) of the South Atlantic League.
Ryan, 22, was 3-4 with six saves and a 4.79 ERA (22 earned runs/41.1 innings) in 33 games for Lake County (A) of the Midwest League this year. The 6-2, 205-pounder has racked up 49 strikeouts. He was named to the Midwest League mid-season All-Star team.
He was Cleveland's 30th-round selection in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of North Carolina. Ryan is 3-5 with seven saves, a 4.50 ERA (30 earned runs/60.0 innings) and 73 strikeouts in 48 career minor league games.
Bruce, 30, was hitting .256 (104-406) with 29 home runs and 75 RBI in 103 games for the Mets this year.
