Major League Baseball will host a free, one-day umpire camp at First Tennessee Park, home of the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, on Saturday, May 25th. Staff for the event will include many accomplished former MLB Umpires, current MLB Supervisors and Observers, as well as Minor League Baseball and NCAA Officials. Among those participating from the MLB Umpiring Department will be Cris Jones, Ed Rapuano, Charlie Reliford and Rich Rieker.
This is MLB’s second free, one-day umpire camp of 2019 for anyone interested in umpiring in baseball and softball, including those aiming to begin professional careers. The 2019 Umpire Camps will culminate with the MLBUC Professional Mini-Camp, which will be held in late December.

Thirty attendees from last year’s clinics went on to the MLB Professional Mini-Camp at no cost. Nine of the attendees in 2018 advanced on MLB scholarships to the two professional umpire schools this past January, and 12 total graduates will begin their professional careers in June. In addition, over 150 attendees of MLB Umpire Camps have gone on to work in professional baseball since 2006.
