Nationals recall Adrian Sanchez

The Washington Nationals recalled infielder Adrián Sanchez from Triple-A Fresno and placed shortstop Trea Turner (broken right index finger) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Sanchez, 28, has hit .271 with nine doubles, one triple, 14 RBI, and 14 runs scored in 62 games across two seasons (2017-18) with Washington. He has appeared at second base (23 G), third base (14 G) and shortstop (8 G) in his Major League career. In 13 starts with Washington in 2018, Sanchez hit .311 (14-for-45) with two doubles, one triple, three RBI, one walk and seven runs scored.

Prior to suffering the injury on Tuesday night, the 25-year-old Turner was 5-for-14 (.357) with a double, two home runs, four RBI, four stolen bases and four runs scored in the first four games of the 2019 season.
