Nationals recall Adrian Sanchez from Double-A

The Washington Nationals recalled infielder Adrián Sanchez from Double-A Harrisburg and optioned right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde to Double-A Harrisburg on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Sanchez, 28, joins the Nationals for his second Major League assignment of the season. He hit .276 with three doubles, one triple, one homer, six RBI, three stolen bases and nine runs scored in 16 games with the Senators.

Sanchez was with the Major League club from April 3rd to April 7th, but did not appear in a game. In 62 games across two Major League seasons (2017-18), Sanchez has hit .271 with nine doubles, one triple, 14 RBI and 14 runs scored. He has appeared at second base (23 G), third base (14 G) and shortstop (8 G).

Fedde, 26, spun 4.0 innings of scoreless relief, striking out three batters against just one walk, in Washington’s 7-6 walk-off win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday.
