The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Wander Suero from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned right-handed pitcher Austin Voth to Syracuse on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Suero, 26, joins the Nationals for the first Major League assignment of his career. He appeared in four games out of Triple-A Syracuse's bullpen. He did not allow an earned run in his last three outings (3.0 IP) while striking out two and holding opposing batters to a .100 average (1-for-10).

Suero, a native of Sabana Larga, Dominican Republic, was signed as a non-drafted free agent on Feb. 2, 2010. In 2017, he led Washington's Minor League system with a career-high 20 saves between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse. In 184 Minor League relief appearances, Suero is 36-17 with 30 saves and a 3.35 ERA.

Voth did not appear in a game during his first Major League stint of the season.
