On Wednesday, May 27, Hall of Famer Michael Jack Schmidt is making a return trip to Cooperstown, but this time through a virtual reading adventure with the Phillie Phanatic and Phillies fans.

Schmidt, a member of the 1980 World Champion Phillies and one of the greatest third basemen in baseball history, will join his wife, Donna, as this week’s celebrity readers during “Storytime with the Phillie Phanatic” presented by Nemours Children’s Health, at 7 p.m. on @philliephanatic on Instagram.

Fans will be in for a real treat as Schmidt, who was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995, fittingly will read, along with his wife, “The Phillie Phanatic’s Hall of Fame Journey” from the popular Phanatic children’s book series. This live, interactive virtual event will also, of course, feature the Phanatic, who will join the Schmidts on a split-screen while he simultaneously acts out scenes from his zany adventures in Cooperstown.  To be part of “Storytime with the Phillie Phanatic,” fans should follow @philliephanatic on Instagram.

Since the weekly event began, thousands of fans have tuned in to watch the Phanatic and his celebrity readers, which have included Phillies outfielder Andrew McCutchen, World Champion Ryan Howard along with his wife, Krystle, and three daughters, right fielder Bryce Harper, and manager Joe Girardi and his wife, Kim.
