The Pirates have acquired LHP Zach Phillips from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for LHP Kyle Lobstein, who was designated for assignment yesterday.

The 29-year-old Phillips has spent the entire 2016 season with Norfolk, Baltimore's Triple-A affiliate in the International League, where he went 9-3 with one save, a 4.45 ERA (60.2ip/30er) and 84 strikeouts in 49 relief appearances.

Phillips, who was originally selected by Texas in the 23rd round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft, made his Major League debut with the Orioles in 2011 and produced a 1.12 ERA (8.0ip/1er) in 10 big league games that season. He also made six appearances with Baltimore in 2012 and three with Miami in 2013. Phillips made his last appearance in a big league game with the Marlins on September 15, 2013.

Phillips, who will not be added to Pittsburgh's 40-man roster, will be assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
