On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced the scheduled Ed Sheeran concert date at PNC Park has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 29 from the originally scheduled date of Sunday, September 30. The change has been made by the Pirates and Messina Touring Group to accommodate the Pittsburgh Steelers now announced 8:20 p.m. kickoff for Sunday Night Football at Heinz Field.
The Ed Sheeran concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday with all gates to PNC Park opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the concert are still available at Pirates.com/Sheeran with prices for the event beginning at $39.50 with the three remaining price points at $69.50, $89.50 and $119.50, depending on availability and location. Earlier this offseason Sheeran announced the final shows to be added to his first-ever North American stadium tour, including a stop at PNC Park.
The tour supports Sheeran's blockbuster third album "÷" (pronounced "divide"), which was crowned the biggest album of 2017 by Nielsen Music, with sales equivalents exceeding 2.764 million units, and recently won "Best Pop Vocal Album" at the 60th GRAMMY Awards. That same night, Sheeran's 8x-platinum smash "Shape Of You" also took home the trophy for "Best Pop Solo Performance" to go along with the pair of GRAMMY awards he previously won - "Best Pop Solo Performance" and the prestigious "Song of the Year" - for his RIAA Diamond-certified hit "Thinking Out Loud" in 2016.
Sheeran's latest single "Perfect" - already 3x-Platinum certified - is already one of the biggest songs of the year, holding at No. 1 on the Hot AC radio chart for the ten weeks, as well as topping the Top 40 radio chart for two weeks. "Perfect" also held the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks. The song earned Sheeran his second chart-topper on the Hot 100, joining "Shape Of You" which was No. 1 for a remarkable 12 weeks, and made "÷" the only album of 2017 to have two of its singles top the Hot 100.
