Pirates Return to PNC Park for the 10th Homestand of 2019

The Pirates return to PNC Park for the 10th homestand of the season, a 10-game stretch as the team hosts the Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals and Cincinnati Reds.

This homestand is highlighted by the Pirates return to Williamsport and the Little League Classic on Sunday, August 18. In addition, other highlights include Cardigan Sweater Day on Saturday, August 17; Armed Forces Night on Saturday, August 24; and Yoga Day on Sunday, August 25.

Friday, August 16, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs (7:05 p.m.)

  • Miracle League Fantasy Camp: In partnership with Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids, Pirates Charities will host a Miracle League Fantasy Camp today at 10:30 a.m at the Miracle League of the South Hills in Boyce Mayview Park (1551 Mayview Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15241). Pirates players and coaches will be in attendance to visit with Miracle league players and assist at skill stations. Miracle League athletes will receive a customized Pirates jersey, goodie bag, and the opportunity to learn from the professionals. Groups will rotate between five different baseball skill stations where kids will have the chance to learn skills like batting, pitching, base running and more.
  • Free Shirt Friday: Tonight, the Pirates host another popular Free Shirt Friday as the first 20,000 fans, with paid admission, will receive a Pirates tee, presented by Peoples.
  • Dollar Dog Night: As a special thank you to the fans, the Pirates will host Dollar Dog Nights, presented by Sugardale, on select Friday nights. During each Dollar Dog Night, fans can visit any North Shore concession stand throughout the ballpark and purchase regular hot dogs for just one dollar.
  • Miller Lite Happy Hour: Tonight, and every Friday Night home game, the Pirates will host a special Happy Hour, presented by Miller Lite, at the Crow’s Nest from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Visit the Arnold Palmer Spiked Bar at the Crow’s Nest for live music as well as discounted cans of Miller Lite, Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy, Blue Moon and Arnold Palmer Spiked.

Saturday, August 17, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs (1:35 p.m.)

  • Cardigan Sweater Day: It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood as the first 20,000 fans with paid admission will receive a Pirates cardigan sweater, courtesy of PNC Bank.
  • Miracle League Day at PNC Park: Pirates Charities will welcome Miracle League All Stars and their families for a special pregame picnic at the ballpark. The 200 guests, representing athletes from all 10 Pirates Charities-supported Miracle League programs (including the Miracle League of Manasota in Bradenton, Florida) will be recognized on the field prior to the game, and a player from each league will be introduced to take the field alongside the Pirates starting lineup.
  • Happy Hour: Today, the Pirates will host a special Happy Hour, presented by Jim Beam, in the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge from 11:30 a.m. to first pitch. Fans can visit the area for discounted Jim Beam drinks, live music and more.

Sunday, August 18, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs (7:10 p.m.)

  • Miracle League All-Star Game: Today, the Pirates are proud to support Miracle League All-Star Day at the Miracle League of the South Hills in partnership with Casey’s Clubhouse. Miracle League All-Stars will enjoy a day of games and activities beginning at 10 a.m. Family, friends and neighbors are encouraged to join the event with many free activities throughout the park.

Monday, August 19, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Washington Nationals (7:05 p.m.)

  • #WearEpps Back to School Event: Today, the Pirates will partner with Pittsburgh Public Schools and their #Wear Epps initiative to join kids and families at the Pittsburgh Obama 6-12 School (515 North Highland Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15206) from noon to 5 p.m. for a fun back to school carnival event. Pirates players will be in attendance from 1-2 p.m. to pass out backpacks, visit with kids, help with games and more. The Pirates and PNC Bank have partnered to purchase backpacks and supplies to support local students as they prepare to begin the 2019-2020 school year.
  • Dystonia Awareness: Tonight, in recognition of Dystonia Awareness Month (September), the Pirates will be joined for a pregame on-field ceremony by the organizers of the sixth annual Dystance For Dystonia Pittsburgh Zoo Walk and families affected by the dystonia.

Tuesday, August 20, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Washington Nationals (7:05 p.m.)

  • Pup Night: Fans can enjoy Bucco baseball with their pooch as the Pirates present one of 12 Pup Nights at PNC Park. Each ticket package (1 person & 1 dog) costs just $36 with additional human tickets available for $36 each.   • Pirates Play Ball Team of the Game: The Pirates continue the season-long initiative honoring a youth baseball/softball team of the game during special home games throughout 2019. Wednesday, August 21, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Washington Nationals (7:05 p.m.)

  • Meet Elias: Today, Pirates catcher Elias Diaz will be at the PNC Bank, Shaler branch (880 Butler Street, Pittsburgh, Pa 15223) to meet fans and sign autographs from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Jewish Heritage Night: Join members of the Jewish Community for the annual Jewish Heritage Night at PNC Park. Each game ticket purchased will include a limited edition "Pittsburgh Strong" Hebrew T-Shirt. Thursday, August 22, 2019 – Pirates vs. Washington Nationals (7:05 p.m.)

  • Grow Up Great: Today, the Pirates will partner with PNC Bank and their Grow Up Great initiative to visit with children at Providence Connections (3113 Brighton Road Pittsburgh, PA 15212) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pirates players will be on-hand during the event to help distribute backpacks and host a special story time for the over 40 children in attendance. PNC’s Grow Up Great program is a bilingual initiative to prepare children, particularly underserved children, from birth to age five for success in school and life.
  • Military Day: Come out to support and honor our brave American military service men and women. The Pirates will wear their Military Day jerseys and special caps.
  • On Field Military Ceremony: As part of today’s Military Day efforts, a group from the Operation Troop Appreciation organization will be honored during a pregame on-field ceremony and hosted in the Pirates Charities Suite.
  • 50/50 Raffle: Today’s Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle, supported by Rivers Casino, will benefit Operation Troop Appreciation.

  • Zambelli Fireworks: Following the game, fans are encouraged to stay in their seats for a special Zambelli Fireworks display, presented by Powerade.

  • Latino Community Back to School Bash: Today, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the Pirates will host a special Back to School Bash for the Pittsburgh Latino Community Center on PNC Park’s Pittsburgh Baseball Club Level. More than 700 participants are expected for the event that will include appearances by Pirates players who will be on-hand to distribute backpacks sign autographs, play games and more. The Pirates and PNC Bank have partnered to purchase backpacks and supplies to support local students as they prepare to begin the 2019-2020 school year.
  • Lightweight Hoodie: Tonight, the first 20,000 fans with paid admission to PNC Park will receive a lightweight Pirates hoodie, presented by StarKist.
  • · Armed Forces Night: Tonight, the Pirates will celebrate all five branches of the military as part of Armed Forces Night at PNC Park. Each ticket purchased at pirates.com/armedforces includes an Armed Forces Night Shirt and an Outfield Box ticket. The youth, who now call Pittsburgh home, will have a chance to display their country's flag in an on-field ceremony.

Sunday, August 25, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds (1:35 p.m.) Kids Day at PNC Park

  • Yoga Day: Today the Pirates will host their annual OMs in the Outfield Yoga Day at PNC Park. This unique yoga practice will be held in the morning starting at 8:30 a.m. in the outfield. Participants get a grandstand ticket for the game, a yoga mat, and an opportunity to participate in a special yoga session with world renowned yoga instructor Dan Nevins as he joins Sally Sherman & Paco Mahone as part of our 2019 Yoga Day.   • · Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, baseball games, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club, presented by Chick-fil-A, and more.
  • · Players’ Weekend Jerseys: Today, all kids 14 and under will receive a free Pirates Players’ Weekend jersey, presented by Kennywood, complete with lettering to apply their own nickname.
  • · Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today’s game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park with the Kids Run the Bases, presented by Rivendale Farms.
  • University Day with Chatham: Today, the Pirates will host a University Day with Chatham University. All fans who purchase University Day tickets will receive a ticket in one of two special sections and a Pirates/Chatham hat. This season the Pirates will host University Nights on select dates when students, alumni, staff and fans of local universities are invited to cheer on the Pirates together at PNC Park.   • All-Star Teachers: Today in a pregame on-field ceremony, the Pirates will recognize the All-Star Teachers for the month of August: Gabriella Miller, Edgeworth Elementary; Josh Yost, Warwood Middle School; Susan Mellon, Springdale Jr/Sr High School. These deserving teachers receive tickets in the Pirates Charities Suite for the game, a personalized jersey, and a contribution of $1,000 to be used in their classroom. This season, the Pirates and Pirates Charities teamed up with Chevron and The Grable Foundation with support from Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and Intermediate Unit One to recognize outstanding teachers in our region and give them the thanks and acknowledgement that they deserve for their contributions to our community. The All-Star Teacher award honors teachers who make a significant difference in the lives of students across the region by providing engaging instruction and curriculum, encouraging lifelong learning, and inspiring a passion for education beyond the classroom and into the future.

Pierogy Race Sweepstakes

The Pirates have partnered with Mrs. T’s Pierogies to give fans the chance to take part in the Great Pittsburgh Pierogy Race at PNC Park. Now through September 18, 2019, fans can enter for a chance to be on the field during the Pierogy Race and take part as a “Race Official.” One winner will be chosen for each remaining Sunday home game and fans can enter at pirates.com/pierogyrace. Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles

The Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle, supported by Rivers Casino, will take place during each Pirates home game throughout the season. Raffle ticket prices are two (2) tickets for $5, 5 tickets for $10, 20 tickets for $20 and 80 tickets for $40 with all proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities. Raffle ticket sales close after the last out in the sixth inning. The winning number will be drawn and announced in the 8th inning and the winner will receive 50 percent of the total pot.
