The Pirates have recalled RHP Tyler Glasnow from Triple-A Indianapolis. He is expected to start this afternoon's game against the Phillies at PNC Park.
To make room for Glasnow on the active roster, the Pirates have optioned right-handed pitcher A.J. Schugel to Indianapolis.
In addition, catcher Eric Fryer has been placed on the Paternity List. His wife Allison gave birth to twins today (daughter Abigail at 10:37 a.m. and son Hayden at 10:47 a.m.).
Catcher Elias Diaz has been recalled from Indianapolis and will wear uniform #32. Diaz, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow on 5/3, has hit .341 (14-for-41) in 12 minor league games this season with High-A Bradenton (rehab), Double-A Altoona (rehab) and Triple-A Indianapolis.
