The Pittsburgh Pirates announced today that Pittsburgh's Rivendale Farms has become the Official Farm and Dairy supplier of fresh produce, eggs and dairy products for the team's home at PNC Park, aligning one of the community's fast growing businesses with the iconic baseball franchise. The partnership will integrate Rivendale Farms' products into high-quality concessions for fans, the Club's charitable activities and the rebranding of the suite level of PNC Park as the "Rivendale Suite Level."
The produce and dairy from Rivendale had previously only been served to the players and staff in its team meals; and its renowned chocolate milk has been used as a post-game recovery drink. Now, through its new partnership with the Pirates, Rivendale's offerings will be integrated into a multitude of options by concession partners Levy and ARAMARK including soft serve and hard pack ice cream and other locally sourced food items. The farm will also have a presence within the stadium including signage on the outfield wall and as the sponsor of the popular "Kids Junior Announcer" program during Sunday home games.
Established in 2015 by Pittsburgh residents Alba and Thomas Tull, Rivendale Farms combines natural, sustainable farming with innovative techniques and technology that focuses on providing the land and animals with the best care and attention available. "We understand the importance and privilege of creating healthy, delicious food options that are easily accessible to help our community thrive," stated Christine Grady, General Manager, Rivendale Farms. "Rivendale takes great pride in providing locally grown produce and dairy products for the Pittsburgh Pirates and now expanding it to fans across the park."
"It is always our goal to connect with Pittsburgh-based businesses and the partnership with Rivendale Farms is another example of this. We are proud to team up with Rivendale and to be able to now offer their fresh locally-grown products to our players, fans and staff as we work to continually improve the game day experience at PNC Park," said Pirates President Frank Coonelly. "Rivendale shares our value of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and we will work together through Pirates Charities on many community initiatives that do just that."
As part of the agreement, Rivendale Farms has partnered with Pirates Charities to develop a Suite Patio Rooftop Garden, to be unveiled later this season. The garden will then be nourished by the compost byproducts from the concessions. Rivendale will also sponsor a host of Pirates Charities initiatives including the presenting partner of the Pirates Charities Golf Outing, the Pirates Charities Sporting Clays event, and as a t-shirt sponsor of the Pirates Charities 5k/10k events later this year.
