BOSTON, MA -- In-person registration is now open for the 12th Annual Run to Home Base presented by Raytheon Technologies, which will take place on September 25, 2021 at Fenway Park. The event raises funds for Home Base, a partnership of the Red Sox Foundation and the Massachusetts General Hospital, dedicated to healing the invisible wounds for Veterans of all eras, Service Members, Military Families and Families of the Fallen through world-class clinical care, wellness, education, and research.

Now in its 12th year, the Run to Home Base will return to Fenway Park while also providing the option for participants to register virtually, open to anyone from any location they choose. In 2020, over 2,000 runners and walkers participated in a virtual event, including 522 Military participants to include Veterans, Active Duty, Guard and Reserve Service Members.

“We are thrilled to be able to host our friends and supporters at Fenway Park for this year’s Run to Home Base,” said Brigadier General (ret) Jack Hammond, Executive Director of Home Base. “It has been a difficult year for everyone, and we look forward to seeing you all in-person. We are also looking to expand the virtual experience for those who cannot make it to Boston. Thank you all for staying with us and continuing to support this noble mission!”

“The Run to Home Base is one of our biggest, annual fundraisers to support the program and we are thrilled to be able to host it in person at Fenway Park this September,” said Red Sox Foundation Executive Director Bekah Salwasser. “The funds raised from the run go towards providing world-class care to help Veterans and active-duty service members heal from the Invisible Wounds of War. It’s our way of continuing to honor our courageous men and women for their service.”

Funds from the Run to Home Base have directly supported life-saving clinical programs for Veterans and their Families at Home Base to include the two-week intensive clinical program for PTSD and TBI; the two-week Intensive Clinical Program for Families of the Fallen and Intensive Traumatic Brain Injury Programs for the U.S. Armed Forces Special Operator Forces. Home Base has seen a 25% increase in Veteran suicides during the COVID pandemic.
