2024 MLB Umpire Camps Locations Across the Country Announced

MLB Umpire Camps Serve as the Main Pathway to Pursue Professional Umpiring Careers

February 16th, 2024

Major League Baseball today announced the 2024 slate of free, one-day MLB Umpire Camps that will be held across the country this season. The MLB Umpire Camps serve as the main pathway for candidates to pursue professional umpiring careers. Select camp invitees will attend MLB’s Umpire Prospect Development Camp, a four-week experience in January that serves as a gateway into umpiring careers through Minor League Baseball and into Major League Baseball.

The 2024 dates and locations are:

  • April 20th – Jackie Robinson Training Complex, Vero Beach, Florida
  • May 18th – Las Vegas Ballpark
  • June 29th – Kansas City Urban Youth Academy, Kansas City, Missouri
  • July 27th – Truist Park, Home of the Atlanta Braves
  • August 24th – CHS Field, St. Paul, Minnesota

These camps represent a main component of the new umpire development model instituted by Major League Baseball in 2023. It has transformed the training of potential umpires by providing quality and consistent training at no cost to participants, with the long-term goals of expanding and diversifying the pool of interested candidates. The system expedites the road to the Major Leagues for the most outstanding performers and is aimed at making umpiring a more feasible career option.

MLB Umpire Camps date back to 2006, when they began at the MLB Youth Academy in Compton, California. Current Major League Umpires Adam Beck, Nestor Ceja, Ramon De Jesus, Malachi Moore, Edwin Moscoso and Carlos Torres all attended MLB Umpire Camps prior to reaching the Major Leagues.
