OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Yusmeiro Petit on a one-year contract, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A’s placed right-handed pitcher Frankie Montas on the COVID-19 related injured list.

Petit compiled a career-low 1.66 ERA in a team-leading 26 relief appearances for the A’s last year in his 13th season in the majors. He now has 240 games pitched over the last four years, which are tied for the most in the majors, and his 285.0 innings pitched as a reliever over that span are the most. The 36-year-old right-hander allowed a .232 opponents batting average in 2020 and walked just five for a .273 on-base percentage. Petit is 42-41 with a 3.93 ERA in 437 career appearances.
