A's place LHP Moll on injured list; recall LHP Koenig from Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland Athletics placed left-handed pitcher Sam Moll on the 15-day injured list with a strained left shoulder and recalled left-handed pitcher Jared Koenig from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Moll is 2-1 with a 2.91 ERA, .205 opponents batting average and .646 OPS in 53 relief appearances with the A’s.  He held left-handed hitters to a .169 batting average and had a 7.45 ERA over his last 13 games dating back to Aug. 4.

Koenig joins the A’s for the fourth time this year and is 1-3 with a 5.72 ERA, .255 opponents batting average and .795 OPS in six games, including five starts, over his previous three stints.  He was 1-3 with a 6.39 ERA in five starts over his first two stays with Oakland and tossed 3.0 scoreless innings of relief in one appearance during his third stint from Aug. 26-27.  The 28-year-old left-hander went 1-0 with a 6.30 ERA in two starts with Las Vegas following his Aug. 28 option and is 6-6 with a 4.71 ERA in 20 games, including 18 starts, overall with the Aviators.
