August 27th, 2021

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s placed outfielder Seth Brown on the injured list following a positive test for COVID-19 and recalled right-handed pitcher Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Brown was batting .203 with 16 home runs and 39 RBI in 94 games over three stints with the A’s. He was recalled most recently last Saturday and was 1-for-8 with two RBI in three games since his return. Brown has made 58 of his 59 starts in games in which the opponent starts a right-handed pitcher and is also 4-for-20 (.200) with a double, home run and four RBI as a pinch hitter.

Jefferies joins the A’s for the second time this year as he was previously called up on Aug. 1 after James Kaprielian went on the injured list. He started and picked up his first Major League win that day at Los Angeles (AL), allowing three runs on three hits and three walks in 5.0 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander returned to Las Vegas when Kaprielian was reinstated from the IL on Aug. 8 and went 2-0 with a 4.00 ERA in three starts following his option. Jefferies is 5-1 with a 4.91 ERA and .288 opponents batting average in 15 starts overall with the Aviators and has issued just 11 walks in 77.0 innings (1.29 per nine innings).
