Angels acquire Dexter Fowler & cash considerations from St. Louis

ANAHEIM – The Angels today acquired OF Dexter Fowler and cash considerations from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.  

Fowler, 34, is a veteran of 13 Major League seasons and has compiled 253 doubles, 82 triples (leads all active players), 127 home runs, 516 RBI and 148 stolen bases across 1,453 games for the Rockies (2008-13), Astros (2014), Cubs (2015-16) and Cardinals (2017-20). He was voted as the starting center fielder for the N.L. All-Star team in 2016, when he also helped lead the Cubs to a World Series championship.  

A native of Atlanta, GA, Fowler was originally drafted by Colorado in the 14th round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft. He made his Major League debut in 2008 and remains the Rockies all-time leader in triples (53). Fowler has appeared in the postseason five times throughout his career and is tied for the Cubs all-time playoff record with 17 runs scored.
