Arizona Fall League announces Week Five NFP Pitcher and Hitter of the Week

PHOENIX – The Arizona Fall League has announced its NFP Hitter and Pitcher of the Week for games from Nov. 3- Nov. 9.

Hitter of the Week: Scottsdale Scorpions INF Kevin McGonigle (DET)

Detroit’s Kevin McGonigle had three home runs in three games slashing .462/.533/1.308. MLB Pipeline’s No. 2 overall prospect in baseball finished first in total bases (17), extra-base hits (4), RBI (7), slugging percentage (1.308), and OPS (1.841) while being tied for second in hits (6), and fifth in batting average (.462). His week opened up on Nov. 4 against Mesa with a 4-for-5, two home run, four RBI performance where he scored four runs and drew a walk. This season, McGonigle ranks in the top 10 in 10 separate offensive categories including leading the league with 49 total bases.

Pitcher of the Week: Glendale Desert Dogs RHP Chen-Wei Lin (STL)

St. Louis’ Chen-Wei Lin tossed three scoreless innings, striking out five. MLB Pipeline’s No. 16 Cardinals prospect earned his league-leading third win of the season while allowing one hit. He struck out three of his first five batters faced before retiring his final four in a row. Overall, Lin ranks second in the AFL with five starts and seventh in strikeouts (19). The 6-foot-7 right-hander from Taiwan reached Double-A Springfield this season.

The final week of the 33rd season of the Arizona Fall League starts today. Regarded as the premier league for baseball’s top prospects, the Arizona Fall League continues to develop top-caliber talent across all 30 MLB Clubs. AFL games will be held at six Cactus League ballparks throughout the 2025 season - Camelback Ranch-Glendale, Peoria Sports Complex, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Sloan Park, Scottsdale Stadium, and Surprise Stadium.

The 2025 AFL Playoffs start on Thursday, Nov. 13 with the 2025 Championship Game set for Saturday, Nov. 15 at Salt River Fields. The event will be televised live on MLB Network with first pitch set for 6 p.m. MST/8 p.m. ET.
