Arizona Fall League announces Week Three NFP Pitcher and Hitter of the Week

PHOENIX – The Arizona Fall League has announced its NFP Hitter and Pitcher of the Week for games from Oct. 20-26.

Hitter of the Week: Scottsdale Scorpions INF Kevin McGonigle (DET)

Detroit’s Kevin McGonigle slashed .500/.579/.875, going 8-for-16 with two home runs, four runs scored, and four driven in. MLB Pipeline’s top Tigers prospect and No. 2 overall prospect recorded 14 total bases as he hit safely in all four games played and walked three times. A day after hitting his first AFL home run, McGonigle went 4-for-5 against Salt River on Oct. 24 with a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning.

Pitcher of the Week: Scottsdale Scorpions RHP James Hicks (HOU)

Houston’s James Hicks completed four scoreless innings against the Salt River Rafters on Oct. 24. MLB Pipeline’s No. 26 Astros prospect retired the first seven batters he faced, retiring 12 of 14 overall. Hicks struck out a season-high six while tossing 32 of his 45 pitches for strikes. He has now struck out 14 in 11 scoreless innings, holding hitters to a .139 batting average against.
