Scottsdale, Arizona – After the completion of the first three weeks of play, the Arizona Fall League has announced its Championship Chains Hitter and Pitcher of the Week for games during the September 30-October 6 timeframe.

Hitter of the Week: Mesa Solar Sox Outfielder Jo Adell (LAA)
After starting his season 1-for-24, MLB Pipeline’s No. 5 prospect has come on strong, recording at least one hit in every game since September 24 during an 8-game hitting streak. In four games in week three, Adell went 7-for-17 with a home run, 3 doubles, 5 RBI, and 4 runs scored. He is the AFL leader in hits, extra-base hits, and doubles.

Pitcher of the Week: Peoria Javelinas RHP Penn Murfee (SEA)
In two starts last week, Murfee allowed just three hits and a run over eight innings while striking out 11. He started his week with four shutout innings, allowing just a pair of hits and fanning seven. Five days later, Murfee pitched four more innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four more. In total this AFL season, Murfee has struck out 15 in 14 innings.

Regarded throughout professional baseball as the “finishing school” for top prospects since its inception in 1992, the six-team league features elite young players from every Major League Baseball Club. Due to construction at Scottsdale Stadium and Surprise Stadium this fall, the AFL will play at four Cactus League stadiums — Camelback Ranch-Glendale, Peoria Sports Complex, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, and Sloan Park. The 14th annual Fall Stars Game (Saturday, October 12) and AFL Championship Game (Saturday, October 26) will be played at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.
