Astros announce Minor League Players of the Month

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros player development department has named RHP Spencer Arrighetti the Astros Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May and IF Zach Dezenzo the Astros Minor League Player of the Month for May.

Arrighetti, 23, went 4-0 with a 0.67 ERA (2ER/27IP) in five appearances including three starts in May for Double A Corpus Christi. The right-handed pitcher also recorded 37 strikeouts, a 0.74 WHIP and a .136 opponent batting average in May. For the 2023 minor league season, Arrighetti has recorded a 4.32 ERA (20ER/41.2IP) with 50 strikeouts and a .225 opponent batting average in nine appearances including five starts. In the Texas League this season, he ranks tied for first in wins (5) and tied for eighth in strikeouts. Arrighetti was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 First-Year MLB Player Draft from Louisiana-Lafayette. 

Dezenzo, 23, batted .421 (32x76) with 26 runs, seven doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, eight walks, seven stolen bases and a 1.075 OPS (.592 SLG / .483 OBP) in 20 games between High A Asheville and Double A Corpus Christi. For the 2023 minor league season, Dezenzo is batting .400 (52x130) with 44 runs, 13 doubles, one triple, four home runs, 20 RBI, 18 walks, nine stolen bases and a 1.082 OPS. Prior to his promotion to Double A, Dezenzo ranked first in batting average (.407), second in on-base percentage (.474), second in OPS (1.102), third in slugging percentage (.628), tied for fifth in hits (46) and tied for sixth in doubles (11) in the South Atlantic League. Dezenzo was selected in the 12th round of the 2022 First-Year MLB Player Draft from Ohio State.
