June 13th, 2023

ATLANTA (June 13, 2023) – To honor and recognize the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), the Atlanta Braves will host their annual Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Night at Truist Park on Saturday, June 17 as the team takes on the Colorado Rockies.

Braves fans are encouraged to arrive early on Saturday, June 17 to enjoy a performance by Cherokee dance group, Raven Rock Dancers, on the Plaza Green in The Battery Atlanta beginning at 2 p.m. A member of the EBCI community will participate in the ceremonial opening of the gates at Truist Park.

The Braves will pay tribute to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians with a special on-field presentation featuring Tribal Royalty, and EBCI representatives will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, sing the National Anthem and signal the start of the game with the honorary “Play Ball” declaration.

250 members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will attend the game, including Principal Chief, Richard Sneed, Tribe Elders and EBCI Pageant Royalty.

The Atlanta Braves have also partnered up with the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians to produce a collection of Syllabary inspired t-shirts to help bring awareness to the native language. The net profit from each sale benefits the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians community to support the preservation of heritage, language, and traditions. The collection is available exclusively at the Truist Park Braves Clubhouse Store. Photos of the t-shirts are available here.
