MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have signed catcher Eric Haase to a one-year contract. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.

Haase, who turned 31 on Monday, has appeared in 323 games during his Major League career with Cleveland (2018-19, 2023) and Detroit (2020-23). He spent most of 2023 with the Tigers (86g) before he was claimed off waivers by the Guardians (3g) on Aug. 21. He made 72 starts last season (55g at C, 15g in LF, 2g at DH).

The right-handed hitter enjoyed his best season in 2021 when he recorded 22 HR and 61 RBI in 98 games with Detroit while posting a .459 SLG. His 22 homers that season ranked fifth among Major League rookies. This included four two-homer games. He was named American League Rookie of the Month for July after belting 9 HR (tied for AL lead) with 29 RBI (led MLB) and a .627 SLG in 23 games.

Haase was originally selected by Cleveland in the seventh round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft from Divine Child High School in Dearborn, MI. He was traded to Detroit in exchange for cash on Jan. 8, 2020.
