Brewers sign outfielder Raimel Tapia

Agrees to One-Year Contract

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have signed outfielder Raimel Tapia (rye-MEHL TOP-ee-uh) to a one-year contract. To make room on the active roster, infielder Abraham Toro was optioned to Triple-A Nashville. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Brewers designated right-handed pitcher Cam Robinson for assignment. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.

Tapia, 29, owns a career .276 batting average with 27 HR, 198 RBI and 59 stolen bases over eight Major League seasons with Colorado (2016-21), Toronto (2022) and Boston (2023). The left-handed hitter has started games in left field (296g), center field (55g), right field (53g) and designated hitter (13g). 

Tapia has hit .276 (384-for-1389, 22hr) against right-handed pitching and .275 (118-for-429, 5hr) against left-handers. He is a career .296 hitter (123-for-416) with runners in scoring position and .315 (63-for-200) with runners in scoring position and two out. 

The native of San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic appeared in 39 games with the Red Sox this season, including 18 starts (9g in LF, 5g in RF, 4g in CF), and hit .264 with 1 HR, 10 RBI and 6 stolen bases.
