Joe Morgan Day this Sunday at GABP

Join the Cincinnati Reds as we celebrate the life, career and legacy of Hall of Famer Joe Morgan on Sunday, August 8 at Great American Ball Park. (Reds vs. Pirates, 1:10 p.m.)

Pregame ceremonies will honor Joe, who passed away in 2020 at age 77, and will feature members of his family participating in the ceremonial first pitch, honorary captain and game ball delivery.

Activations on Sunday also will include:

• Hall of Famers Johnny Bench and Barry Larkin will participate in ceremonies along with Jeff Idelson, Interim President of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown and Jane Forbes Clark, the chairman of the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors.

• Joe’s official Hall of Fame Plaque from the Baseball Hall of Fame will be on display in front of the Big Red Machine mural inside the main gates at Crosley Terrace. Fans can get their photo taken with the plaque during the game.

• In honor of Joe, a floral arrangement will be placed at the Joe Morgan statue on Crosley Terrace and fans will have the opportunity to sign a banner with their messages paying tribute to Joe.

• A proclamation by Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley declaring Sunday, August 8 as Joe Morgan Day.

• There will be a moment of silence in honor of Joe and The Mistics will sing the National Anthem wearing #8 Morgan jerseys.

• Many tributes to Joe are planned throughout the game, including a #8 in the dirt behind second base and videos highlighting many of the great moments and accomplishments of Joe’s remarkable career and his contributions to the Cincinnati community.

The first 15,000 fans in attendance will receive a #8 Joe Morgan cap, presented by Delta Air Lines.

A limited number of Morgan Red Lip Gloss, created by Joe’s daughter Lisa Morgan, will be available in the Reds Hall of Fame shop in the First Star Fan Zone. Fans can also purchase the lip gloss online at www.DolledUpCosmetics.com.
