D-backs name Corbin Carroll & Brandon Pfaadt Organization Player- and Pitcher-of-the-Year

The Arizona Diamondbacks named OF Corbin Carroll and RHP Brandon Pfaadt the organization’s 2022 Minor League Player- and Pitcher-of-the-Year.

CORBIN CARROLL

  • Hit .303 (108-for-356)/.422 OBP/.604 SLG with 22 doubles, 8 triples, 23 home runs, 61 RBI, 65 walks, 31 stolen bases and 87 runs scored across 91 games with Double-A Amarillo and Triple-A Reno.
  • Named USA TODAY’s 2022 Minor League Player of the Year, the third D-back to win the award (also: Justin Upton in 2007 and Paul Goldschmidt in 2011).
  • Rated as the No. 1 overall prospect by The Athletic and ESPN.com, No. 3 by MLB Pipeline and No. 5 by Baseball America at the time of his promotion to the D-backs on Aug. 29.
  • Recorded 33 multi-hit games, including a career-high 4-hit game on April 23 vs. San Antonio.  
  • Participated in the 2022 SiriusXM MLB All-Star Futures Game in Los Angeles on July 16.
  • Selected by the D-backs in the first round (16th overall) in the 2019 draft out of Lakeside School in Seattle, Wash.

BRANDON PFAADT [fought]

  • Is 11-7 with a 3.83 ERA (71 ER in 167.0 IP), 218 strikeouts, 1.16 WHIP and a .251 opponent average in 29 starts with Double-A Amarillo and Triple-A Reno.
  • Was the first Minor League pitcher to reach the 200-strikeout milestone since 2011, and his 218 strikeouts are the most since Brandon Claussen/NYY in 2001 (220).
  • Boasts 11.7 strikeouts per 9.0 innings.
  • Has struck out 10+ batters 5 times this season, including a career-high-tying 12 strikeouts on June 23 @ Corpus Christi.
  • Named the D-backs Pitcher-of-the-Month for August, going 3-0 with a 2.03 ERA.
  • Ranked as the D-backs’ No. 4 prospect by MLB Pipeline (94th overall) and Baseball America.
  • Selected by Arizona in the fifth round of the 2020 draft out of Bellarmine University.
