D-backs made 7 roster moves yesterday

PHOENIX -- Yesterday, the Arizona Diamondbacks recalled INF/OF Josh Rojas from the Alternate Training Site, selected RHP Artie Lewicki, LHP Joe Mantiply and RHP Keury Mella from the Alternate Training Site, placed RHP Taylor Widener on the 10-day injured list (strained right rib cage) and transferred RHP Merrill Kelly (right shoulder nerve impingement) and RHP Jeremy Beasley (right shoulder strain) to the 45-day injured list. The D-backs’ 40-man roster is at 39.

The D-backs will have 3 players on the Taxi Squad for this road trip: C John Hicks (No. 55), INF Wyatt Mathisen (No. 27) and OF Trayce Thompson (No. 30).

Rojas, 26, has appeared in 1 game this season for the D-backs.

Lewicki, 28, will wear No. 54 in his first stint with the D-backs. In 2017-18, he appeared in 17 games (4 starts) for the Tigers.

Mantiply, 29, will wear No. 36 in his first stint with the D-backs. In 2016, he made 5 relief appearances for the Tigers, and last season, he made 1 relief appearance for the Yankees.

Mella, 27, will wear No. 64 in his first stint with the D-backs. From 2017-19, he made 8 relief appearances for the Reds.

Widener, 25, has made 10 relief appearances in his Major League debut, going 0-1 with a 4.42 ERA (9 ER in 18.1 IP), .185 opponent average and 20 strikeouts.
