PHOENIX — In celebration of Pride Month, the D-backs will host Pride Night, supported by Vizzy Hard Seltzer, next Friday, June 11 at the D-backs vs. Angels game at Chase Field.
Fans are able to purchase a Pride Ticket Pack, which includes a rainbow-themed D-backs branded cap and a lower-level ticket to the game for just $30. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to One Community and Phoenix Pride, while both organizations will be recognized during pregame ceremonies.
As part of Pride Night, the ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Danielle Cortez, a transgender Live Content Creator for Major League Baseball who is also a former D-backs intern and longtime season ticket holder. She will be throwing the pitch to Billy Bean, MLB’s Vice President of Social Responsibility & Inclusion. Also of note in the Pride Cap is the color change on the “D” in D-backs, which represents the transgender community. Earlier this season, the D-backs converted several restrooms in the ballpark to all-inclusive facilities in order to allow fans to use restrooms that correspond with their gender identity or expression.
One Community will have a presence on site where fans can take the unity pledge. In 2014, the D-backs became the first MLB team to sign the pledge, which supports and advocates for workplace inclusion and protection for all, including LGBTQ+ community members. Other local non-profits on site include one-n-ten and Aunt Rita’s Foundation.
The National Anthem will be performed by the Phoenix Gay Men’s Chorus. As has been the case in years past, merchandise featuring the D-backs’ rainbow-colored logo will be available in the Chase Field Team Shop.
In 2020, the club created D-backs for Change with the goal of leveling the playing field for our Team Players and community members by making a commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. In furtherance of D-backs for Change’s goal, several Team Player Resource Groups (TPRGs) were created in order to understand the issues faced by club employees, with one of the groups focusing on the LGBTQ+ community.
Vizzy Hard Seltzer is partnering with the Human Rights Campaign to fight for the LGBTQ+ community. Over the next three years, the brand is donating $1 million to HRC to support those efforts. To celebrate Pride in a meaningful way, Vizzy has created special limited edition 12-ounce Pride packaging that will be available for sampling at Chase Field on June 11. Vizzy Hard Seltzer is made with antioxidant vitamic C from superfruit.
