D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall to be inducted into Arizona Sports Hall of Fame tonight

November 1st, 2019

PHOENIX — D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall will be inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame tonight as part of the 2019 class. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort, and Hall will be joined by fellow inductees Tom Chambers, Amy Van Dyken-Rouen, Michael Carbajal, Dick Tomey and Michael Nesbitt.

The Arizona Sports Hall of Fame honors athletes, coaches, administrators and others who have made significant contributions to Arizona sports. The 2019 class was selected by a vote of trustees and the public. To be eligible for induction, an individual must meet one of three criteria – be a native of Arizona, be immediately recognized as an Arizonan or have made at least two significant contributions to the athletics community in Arizona.

Considered by many to be among the leaders of the game, Hall has turned the D-backs’ organization into a model franchise within the sports industry and throughout the business world. He is the fourth-longest tenured CEO in Major League Baseball, having just completed his 14th season at the helm of the club.

Hall focuses the organization's efforts in five areas he has called the "Circle of Success" – fan experience, performance, community, culture and financial efficiency – each of which has seen tremendous growth during his tenure.

Hall’s leadership has helped guide the D-backs to three postseason appearances, including two National League West Division Championships (2007, ’11), one NLCS (2007) and one Wild Card appearance (2017).

In the community, Hall has positioned the D-backs as one of the largest philanthropic entities in the Valley. In 2019, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and the D-backs' organization surpassed the $65 million mark in charitable giving since their inception in 1998, including more than $55 million in the past 14 years under Hall's direction.

Hall joins several past D-backs honorees to be enshrined in the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame, including Luis Gonzalez, Randy Johnson, Mark Grace, Curt Schilling and Jerry Colangelo.
