Dodgers recall LHP Caleb Ferguson

RHP Casey Sadler optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today recalled left-handed pitcher Caleb Ferguson and optioned right-handed pitcher Casey Sadler to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Ferguson, 23, returns for his third stint with the Dodgers. In 22 games for the Dodgers, he is 0-1 with a 5.48 ERA (14 ER/23.0 IP) and 28 strikeouts. In 11 games for Oklahoma City, the Ohio native is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/ 13.1 IP) and 23 strikeouts. He is in his second season with the Dodgers, posting a 7-3 record with a 4.13 ERA (33 ER/72.0 IP) and 87 strikeouts in 51 games.

Sadler, 29, was recalled on Monday night, making two appearances for the Dodgers. He tossed 2.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts. The righty has appeared in 11 Major League games this season, allowing five runs in 22.0 innings of work for a 2.05 ERA for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Dodgers. He was acquired by the Dodgers on July 3 from Tampa Bay in exchange for Nathan Witt.
