Celebrate America’s birthday at Citizens Bank Park when the Phillies take on the San Diego Padres on July 2-4. Here’s a look at some of the game highlights and promotions featured at the ballpark.
1) Probable pitcher Zack Wheeler to take the mound on Friday, July 2, at the 6:05 p.m. game. The game will be broadcast on NBCSP, 94 WIP and WTTM 1680, as well as available via live stream for authenticated subscribers on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s MyTeams app. Starting Friday, Phillies players and coaches will wear specially-designed New Era official on-field caps of Independence Day and themed Stance socks for the three-game series. The Phillies caps will be available in a limited quantity for fans to purchase at the New Era Phillies Team Store.
2) Saturday, July 3, features probable pitcher Matt Moore at 4:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast on NBCSP, FS1, 94 WIP and WTTM 1680.
3) Children 14 and under will receive an IBEW Local 98 Zack Wheeler T-Shirt at the 1:08 p.m. game on Sunday, July 4, with probable pitcher Vince Velasquez. The game will be broadcast on NBCSP, TBS, 94 WIP and WTTM 1680. The Phillies are celebrating Independence Day with a special pregame salute to the nation’s military, which includes:
• The Air National Guard Band of the Northeast will perform the national anthem as an All-Service Honor Guard presents the colors in centerfield. Flightline Brass will provide pregame strolling music and a vocal trio will sing God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch.
• All Phillies day-of-game employees who served in the U.S. military will be recognized on the Budweiser Rooftop in Ashburn Alley.
• The 50 state flags will be carried onto the warning track by members of the military.
• A ceremonial first pitch will be made by TSgt Emesh Fernando, representing the U.S. Air Force and Liberty USO. Fernando will also be honored as the Rothman Hometown Hero at the end of the 3rd inning.
• During the game, Ben Franklin will dance with the Phanatic in the 5th inning.
• Phillies players will wear a special patch commemorating the holiday.
4) Foodies rejoice, starting Friday, Aramark and the Phillies will unveil a new concession stand, Farm System (Section 139), with gluten-free and vegetarian offerings. The menu includes Bull’s pulled pork sandwiches, Beyond Meat hot sausages, Caesar salads, Hatfield Phillies Franks, Herr’s kettle cooked potato chips and brownies. Fan favorite Seasons Pizza (Ashburn Alley) will continue to serve made-to-order, personal, gluten-free pizzas, and Chickie’s & Pete’s® Crabfries® (Ashburn Alley, Sections 208 and 319) are prepped in dedicated gluten-free fryers.
5) Featured this series is Toyota’s Frontline Heroes Phanatic Dance. Among the frontline workers taking part are Eric Hunsi, physical therapist at Fox Rehabilitation, Michael Hunsi, Spanish and theatre teacher at Odessa High School, and Juniper Worthington, emergency department nurse at Cooper University Hospital (Friday, 5th inning), Aimee Grimm, optometrist at Advanced Eyecare Specialists (Saturday, 5th inning), and Carol Kazeem, outreach worker at Chester Community Coalition (Sunday, 7th inning).
6) Last chance to bid on the Phillies Charities, Inc. Auction, featuring autographed items by Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, Zack Wheeler and more! The auction is available via the MLB Ballpark App (iOS and Android devices only) and closes on Monday, July 5, at noon.
