SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The Giants announced that they have signed left-handed pitcher Alex Wood to a one-year Major League contract for the 2021 season worth $3 million.

Wood can make an additional $3 million in performance bonuses for games pitched in which he records ten outs or greater: $125,000 each for 12 and 14; $250,000 each for 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24; $500,000 each for 26, 28 and 30.

Wood, who just turned 30 years old this past Tuesday, pitched in the Dodgers’ title-clinching win in Game 6 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays this past season, entering the third inning and throwing two perfect innings with three strikeouts to help Los Angeles claim their first championship in 32 years. The left-hander went 0-1 with a 6.39 ERA in nine games (two starts) for the Dodgers during the regular season, tossing 12.2-innings with 15 strikeouts.

A 2017 All-Star with the Dodgers, Wood has logged a career record of 53-44 with a 3.45 ERA in 188 games (138 starts) across eight big league seasons with Atlanta (2013-15), Los Angeles-NL (2015-18, 2020) and Cincinnati (2019).

With today’s addition of Wood, the Giants now have 40 players on their 40-man roster.
