Major League Baseball announced today it will revive its iconic This Week in Baseball franchise, with the debut of a new short-form “TWIB” episode every Friday at 12 p.m. ET on Major League Baseball’s X account (@MLB). Starting this Friday, April 3rd and running through the 2026 Postseason, the reimagined weekly series will provide a fresh look at baseball’s biggest stars, incredible plays and intriguing storylines while keeping elements that longtime fans will instantly recognize from the original seminal TV franchise.

Developed and produced by the Emmy Award-winning MLB Studios, this digital first series comes from a recently renewed partnership between Major League Baseball and X and continues MLB’s mission of reaching new fans wherever and whenever they are consuming content. With production and segment creation from the Emmy Award-winning MLB Network, each episode will serve as a fun, fast-paced and easily digestible way to track the latest happenings in the game as fans gear up for a weekend of baseball action and trips to the ballpark.

“For a generation of fans, 'TWIB' is etched in their minds and hearts. The music, the highlights, and the positioning of the game’s stars were groundbreaking in many respects,” said Kenny Gersh, MLB Executive Vice President, Media & Business Development. “To this day, fans speak with profound fondness about how the series shaped their connection to the game. So now, after thoughtful development, our goal is to deliver a show that pairs the vibe and signature style of the original franchise with a modernized format designed for today’s younger, social media savvy generation. We're excited by the opportunity and plan on putting our full creative spirit and passion behind the project.”

“Bringing back the iconic ‘This Week in Baseball’ as an X Original seamlessly bridges baseball’s rich heritage with today’s biggest platform for sports fandom and real-time conversation,” said Mitchell Smith, Global Head of Content Partnerships at X. “We’re thrilled to team back up with MLB and empower them with the creative freedom to deliver fresh, engaging content that lets longtime fans relive the nostalgia and new generations discover the excitement of the game. This renewed partnership underscores how X is the go-to destination for premium sports storytelling that drives massive engagement and cultural impact.”

Multimedia content creator Kait Maniscalco will host each episode, introducing fans to jaw-dropping highlights from the previous week, player profiles, historical flashbacks, bloopers and more. A sense of nostalgia will be felt throughout the series, in the form of the fan-favorite “TWIB Notes,” timeless transitions and fades, instantly recognizable music, and slow-mo hero shots of today’s stars.

Launched on April 1st, 1977, This Week in Baseball was created as a weekly 30-minute highlights program, bringing the national game to local markets and delivering impactful baseball content to hungry fans. With legendary Hall of Fame Announcer Mel Allen serving as the host for many years, the series quickly grew into one of the sport’s most recognizable and celebrated television franchises, helping generations of fans connect with the personalities, energy and unforgettable moments that define the game. Produced by Major League Baseball, the show ran until 1998 and was later revived from 2000 to 2011.

The first “TWIB” Episode debuts this Friday, April 3rd on MLB’s X Account at 12 p.m. ET. Follow @MLB and @XOriginals for updates.
