SEATTLE, Wash. – Today, the Seattle Mariners announced they will unveil a Chair of Honor at T-Mobile Park prior to tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays dedicated to Prisoners of War (POW) and military members Missing in Action (MIA).
“The Mariners take great pride in honoring the courage and commitment of our veterans and service members,” said Catie Griggs, Seattle Mariners President of Business Operations. “We are humbled by their personal sacrifice on behalf of our freedoms. The Chair of Honor will serve as an ongoing reminder of the brave men and women who have not come home. There will always be a place at T-Mobile Park awaiting their return.”
The black POW/MIA chair will remain perpetually empty and serve as a reminder of the thousands of Americans who have gone missing or become prisoners of war while serving our country.
The Chair of Honor will be permanently located on the Main Concourse in Centerfield next to the United States flagpole. The Chair of Honor was manufactured by Hussey Seating Company.
