SEATTLE, Wash. – The Seattle Mariners today unveiled their Nike City Connect uniform, which represents over a century of baseball in the Pacific Northwest, as well as Seattle’s innovative spirit as the Mariners and region move into an extraordinary era. The new uniforms will be worn by the team every Friday home game at T-Mobile Park, beginning Friday, May 5.

“Our City Connect uniform celebrates Seattle’s baseball history in a bold, forceful design signaling a new era of baseball in the Pacific Northwest,” said Catie Griggs, Seattle Mariners President of Business Operations.

The Mariners Team Store, located at T-Mobile Park will open at 9:00 AM today, and the Downtown Team Store, located on 4^th & Stewart, will open at 10:00 AM, both of which are the exclusive Seattle retail locations for the Nike Seattle Mariners City Connect Jerseys and Caps until May 5. At T-Mobile Park’s Team Store, there will be a live DJ throughout the day today, as well as prizes, photo ops for fans, and more. Hatback Bar & Grille and Steelheads Alley, located across the street from the ballpark, will offer 20% off to fans wearing Nike Seattle Mariners City Connect gear all day today. Free parking will be provided at the Mariners Garage from April 28 – April 30 for fans wanting to stop by the Team Store and check out the new collection.

At the May 5 game against the Houston Astros at T-Mobile Park, fans will have the opportunity to take their photo in front of a custom Mariners City Connect backdrop that will be at the ballpark for the entirety of the homestand. Fans who participate in the photo opportunity will have the chance to enter to win a custom replica Nike Seattle Mariners City Connect Jersey.

On Saturday, May 6, the Mariners will host an event on Pier 62 in partnership with Fanatics starting at 11:00 AM to celebrate the launch of their Nike City Connect uniform. At the event, fans will be able to purchase their own gear from the Mariners City Connect collection, enjoy a variety of food trucks, giveaways, photo opportunities, hear live beats spun by a local DJ, and more. Mariner Moose and former Mariner All-Star and current MLB Network on-air talent Harold Reynolds will be on-site throughout the day as well. The Mariners 6:40 PM game that evening will be shown on a large portable screen for fans to watch while enjoying the event.

The Mariners will also participate in the Opening Day of boating season parade on the Montlake Cut on May 6 with a Mariners City Connect-themed vessel featuring Harold Reynolds, the Mariners Moose and Mariners Navigators.

About the Mariners City Connect Uniform

The colors of Amarillo, Rush Blue and Sundown capture the essence of the Mariners inaugural colors but also honor Seattle’s original Major League team, the Pilots. The infusion of black used for the pants is a nod to the primary color of 1940’s Seattle Steelheads classic uniforms. The combination of colors represents a fearless and distinct move forward creating a new energy for the Nike City Connect design and the Mariners.

“Seattle” is stitched across the chest of the rush blue jersey, with the lettering style evocative of the Seattle Pilots jerseys. There’s a black drop shadow on “Seattle,” which pays homage to a similar drop shadow used by the 1955 Pacific Coast League Champion Rainiers.

Within the patch on the jersey sleeve, Mount Rainer is front and center – representing the Pacific Coast League’s Seattle Rainiers. “PNW” is donned in sundown gold to signify the energy and exuberance of the region’s great outdoors. The leaf embellishments, which memorably appeared on the 1969 Seattle Pilots caps, are incorporated on the edge of the patch to honor the region’s maritime and aviation industries.

Perhaps no three words are associated more with the Seattle Mariners than Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Niehaus’ famous phrase, “My Oh My.” Dave’s descriptive and colorful calls were beloved by Mariners fans throughout the Northwest for over three decades. “My Oh My” appears at the bottom front of the jersey’s left side (jock tag). It’s only fitting that his spirit is part of the first Mariners City Connect uniform.

The popular phrase “Sodo Mojo” is stitched inside the jersey collar as a celebration of the Sodo neighborhood the Mariners have always called home. There are also two tridents pointing skyward forming “Ws.” The first “W” signifies the state of Washington, while the second “W” represents the word “wins,” which is evocative of the blue “W” lit on the T-Mobile Park roof after every victory.

The cap, which features a modernized Mariners trident, consists of a royal blue crown and black visor, the first time this color combination has been used for an on-field cap in Seattle baseball history.
