Mets to honor Tod Tillotson

July 6th, 2022

FLUSHING, N.Y., July 6, 2022 **– **The New York Mets today announced the club will honor long-time front office employee Tod Tillotson, by naming the Citi Field Mailroom in his honor as the Mets host their first Disability Pride Night on Thursday, July 7 prior to their 7:10 pm game vs. Miami.

Tillotson, a member of the deaf community, passed away in August, 2021. He joined the organization on a part-time basis in 1964 at age 15 in the mailroom and worked for the team for the next 56 years. The Tod Tillotson Mailroom will be unveiled during a ceremony on Thursday, July 7 at 5:30 pm with Tod’s family and friends, Mets President Sandy Alderson and 1969 Met Art Shamsky.

Tillotson was previously honored at the 2014 Mets Welcome Home Dinner with the Ya Gotta Believe Award. The Award named for Tug McGraw is given annually to an individual within or associated with the Mets family who has shown an exceptional commitment to the community, fortitude in overcoming adversity, and the spirit to believe that anything is possible.

Tillotson lost his hearing when he was five years old. He graduated from the New York School for the Deaf in 1968 and worked full-time in the Mets ticket office for 10 years, before returning to the mailroom, where he would remain until he retired after the 2019 season.
