September 28th, 2020

MIAMI – As the Miami Marlins prepare for the postseason, top prospects will convene in Jupiter for Instructional League. Miami has released a roster of 45 players who will take part in Instructs that will include 12 games and run through October 31.

The Marlins Instructional League roster includes 18 of the team’s MLB Pipeline top 30 prospects, including OF JJ Bleday (No. 25) and RHP Max Meyer (No. 34) who are in the Top 100 overall. The 12 players not on the Instructional League roster are currently with the Major League club during the playoff push.

The roster features seven players who took part in the Marlins 60-man player pool during the 2020 season: C Will Banfield, OF Jerar Encarnacion, LHP Dax Fulton, C Nick Fortes and OF Connor Scott along with Bleday and Meyer.

In addition to the Marlins Top 30, five 2020 draft picks will join the team at Instructs. Meyer (1st round, Fulton (2nd round), RHP Kyle Nicolas (CBB Round), RHP Zach McCambley (3rd round) and RHP Jake Eder (4th round) will all make their first appearances as a part of the Marlins.

Also making his Marlins debut will be Marlins No. 18 prospect OF Griffin Conine. Conine, son of Mr. Marlin Jeff Conine, was acquired from the Blue Jays at the 2020 trade deadline in exchange for Jonathan Villar.

The 2019 draft class is well represented with Bleday (1st round), OF Kameron Misner (CBA Round), INF Nasim Nunez (2nd Round), OF Peyton Burdick (3rd Round), INF Evan Edwards (4th round), LHP Evan Fitterer (5th round), LHP Zach King (13th round) and INF Nic Ready (23rd round) all receiving the call to attend.

Workouts began on Saturday and the first game will be Tuesday, October 6. Miami will play four games a week all against the Washington Nationals Instructional League team.

The Jupiter complex will remain closed to the media at this time, but the Marlins Communications Department will provide updates for any future media availabilities.
