Minnesota Twins homestand highlights: August 1-7

Division-leading Twins to begin month of 20 home games by hosting Detroit and Toronto; Theme Nights, Giveaways, Special Events and/or Ticket Deals available for all seven games

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The division-leading Minnesota Twins return to Target Field tonight for a two-team, seven-game homestand to kick off an August slate in which the club will host 20 home games – the team’s most in a single month since playing a Minnesota-era record 22 at Metropolitan Stadium in June 1977. The Twins open the homestand and month with a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers tonight through Wednesday, before welcoming the Toronto Blue Jays for a four-game weekend series from Thursday-Sunday, August 4-7. Target Field’s first-ever postgame concert featuring Cole Swindell (Thursday, August 4), a “Welcome Back from Cooperstown” celebration for Jim Kaat and Tony Oliva (Saturday, August 6) and some special ceremonial first pitch guests are among the homestand’s many highlights.

Tickets Available

Tickets for the upcoming homestand, along with season, group and single-game tickets for the remainder of the Twins’ 2022 regular season home schedule at Target Field, are available for purchase via twinsbaseball.com, by calling 612-33-TWINS or 1-800-33-TWINS, or in-person at the Target Field Ticket Office. “Ballpark Access” tickets are available for as low as $9.

Tonight – Monday, August 1 vs. Detroit Tigers (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Gate Giveaway – MLB Network Bag: The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a free MLB Network tote bag.
  • Welcome to Target Field, Brooks Lee!: Before heading to Fort Myers to begin his professional career, Twins 2022 first-round draft pick (and No. 8 overall selection) Brooks Lee will throw out a ceremonial first pitch, caught by his father and college coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Larry Lee.
  • Honoring the “Minnesota Rolling Twins”: Players and coaches from the Minnesota Rolling Twins – a longtime partnership with the Twins and Allina Health’s Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute – will be recognized with a good luck sendoff prior to the National Wheelchair Softball World Series, set to be held later this week in Chicago. Jackson Larson, the first baseman for the 2013 World Series Champion Jr. Rolling Twins team, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch, while the Twins will also honor the memory and legacy of Jerry Anderson, a former Rolling Twin who was inducted into the National Wheelchair Softball Association Hall of Fame in 2008.

  • Suni Lee Ceremonial First Pitch: In honor of “Gymnastics Day” at Target Field, Olympic gold medalist and St. Paul native Sunisa “Suni” Lee will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. The 2020 Olympic all-around champion, team silver medalist and uneven bars bronze medalist, Lee capped her first collegiate season by winning the 2022 NCAA balance beam title, earning silver in the all-around, and capturing eight All-America honors for the University of Auburn.
  • Heart & Hustle Award: The Twins will honor their 2022 Heart & Hustle Award winner prior to the game. Created by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association in 2005, the Heart & Hustle award is voted on by alumni and active Major League players and is presented annually to an active player who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game.
