Nationals recall Adrián Sanchez

The Washington Nationals recalled infielder Adrián Sanchez from Double-A Harrisburg and optioned right-handed pitcher Kyle Barraclough to Double-A Harrisburg Saturday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Sanchez, 28, joins the Nationals for his fourth Major League assignment of the season. He hit .322 with 14 doubles, one triple, six homers, 26 RBI, 12 walks, nine stolen bases and 34 runs scored in 52 games with the Senators. He has made starts at second base (25 G), third base (11 G) and shortstop (14 G).

Sanchez has gone 4-for-20 (.200) with one run scored in 18 games for the Washington Nationals this season. In 80 games across three Major League seasons (2017-19), Sanchez has hit .262 with nine doubles, one triple, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored. He has appeared at second base (24 G), third base (17 G), shortstop (8 G), first base (1 G) and left field (1 G).

Barraclough, 29, went 1-2 with a 6.66 ERA in 33 games out of Washington’s bullpen.
