Oakland A’s Prize Patrol to Give Away $40,000 to Fans & Community Just for Watching A’s Games

A’s and NBC Sports California team up to surprise fans in August and September

August 8th, 2019

OAKLAND, Calif. – Four lucky A’s fans will be rewarded for simply doing what they love: watching the Oakland A’s play. The team and NBC Sports California will give away a total of $20,000 to fans and a matching $20,000 to local community partners during the club’s A’s Prize Patrol in August and September.

During key game broadcasts in August and September, a special keyword will be revealed during the A’s television broadcasts on NBC Sports California. Fans will use that keyword to register for that night’s drawing. A random sweepstakes winner will then be selected from a group of semifinalists to receive one of the $5,000 grand prizes. The presentation of the prize, hosted by the A’s Prize Patrol, mascot Stomper, and A’s emcee Kara Tsuboi, will air during a live broadcast of the A’s game the following day.

Winning fans will also have the chance to choose from six local community organizations to receive a matching donation, including the Alameda County Community Food Bank, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland, Civicorps, BOSS - Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency, Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, and the Oakland A’s Community Fund.

The first special keyword will be revealed during the NBC Sports California broadcast on Thursday, Aug. 15, when the A’s host the Houston Astros at 7:07 p.m. Fans will have until the following morning to enter the unique code to be entered into the first sweepstakes. Additional keywords will be revealed during the television broadcasts on Aug. 21, Sept. 3, and Sept. 6.
