SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres have acquired outfielder Taylor Trammell from the Cincinnati Reds as part of a three-team trade with the Cleveland Indians, Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller announced today. In the deal, the Padres sent outfielder Franmil Reyes, left-handed pitcher Logan Allen and infielder Victor Nova to the Indians.

Trammell (pronounced truh-MELL), rated as the top prospect in the Reds system and No. 30 overall on MLB.com’s Top 100 list, was batting .236 (74-for-314) with a .350 on-base percentage, eight doubles, three triples, six home runs, 33 RBI, 47 runs scored and 17 stolen bases for double-A Chattanooga this season. At the time of the trade, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound left-handed hitter led the Southern League in walks (54) and ranked T-8th in stolen bases and 9th in on-base percentage.

Originally selected by the Reds with the 35th overall selection in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Mount Paran Christian High School (Ga.), Trammell has posted a .273 career average with a .367 OBP, 60 doubles, 23 triples, 29 home runs, 185 RBI, 206 walks and 237 runs scored in 393 minor league games. The 21-year-old was named MVP of the 2018 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Nationals Park (2-for-2, 3B, HR, RBI, 2 R) and was selected to the 2019 Futures Game in Cleveland. He is a two-time minor league All-Star (2018 with single-A Daytona, 2019 with Chattanooga) and was also selected as a 2018 Arizona Fall League Rising Star.Baseball America named him the Futures Game’s best hitter in 2018 and the Florida State League outfielder with the best throwing arm, as well as the best athlete and fastest base runner in the Reds organization in 2016. In his senior year of high school, he was selected as a Wendy’s Heisman Student Athlete All-American and combined for seven Player of the Year awards between football and baseball.
