San Diego Padres vs. Boston Red Sox - Friday, August 23 @ 7:10 p.m.

The Padres return home from their 10th road trip, a seven-day, 6-game trip, for their 11th homestand of the 2019 season featuring games against the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers. Action begins tonight with a 7:10 p.m. start against the Red Sox.

The third annual Players’ Weekend will take place at Petco Park from Friday through Sunday for the first time since its inception in 2017. Major League Baseball players will have the opportunity to showcase their passions, backgrounds and interests by putting their own personal touches on what they wear and on the equipment they use all weekend long. Elements include:

Players have selected nicknames for themselves to be on the backs of their jerseys and the opportunity to design, wear and use creatively colored and decorated equipment including bats, spikes, batting gloves, wristbands, compression sleeves and catcher’s equipment.

Padres third baseman Manny Machado (“El Ministro”) has been named a Players’ Weekend Ambassador and will take the team-lead in championing the initiative and his teammates’ efforts.

Players will wear specially designed monochromatic uniforms with the Padres wearing all-white and the Red Sox wearing all-black uniforms created specifically for the weekend-long event with jerseys by Majestic, caps by New Era Cap and socks from Stance.

The final BeerFest presented by Southwest Airlines of 2019 takes place on Friday. Elements include:

The party begins at 4:30 p.m. with live entertainment by Radio Thieves and beer specials for $5 from local and national breweries, including the refreshing Swingin’ Friar Ale collaboration from the Padres and Ballast Point.

The popular STAR WARS® Night returns to Petco Park on Friday. Fans are encourage to come dressed in their best STAR WARS® gear, and there will be characters available for photo opportunities at Park at the Park. Kendra Checketts, San Diego native and former contestant on Season 16 of NBC’s hit show “The Voice”, will perform the National Anthem prior to Friday’s game.

The Freedom Reserve Section presented by Budweiser ($5 tickets for Monday through Thursday games and $10 tickets for Friday through Sunday games) will be available every home game for active duty military and their dependents.

San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Boston Red Sox - Saturday, August 24 @ 5:40 p.m.

The Padres Family Association are hosting their annual Favorite Things Basket Fundraiser, with 100 percent of proceeds raised benefiting the Padres Foundation. Fans attending the game will have the opportunity to bid on baskets that wives, girlfriends and significant others put together representing the favorite things of players, coaches, broadcasters and more. Baskets are one-of-a-kind and include autographed memorabilia, favorite books, sporting equipment, Hawaiian vacations, Airpods, gift cards, snacks, movies, wine and lots more. As part of Baseball Night in San Diego, fans are encouraged to stick around after Saturday’s game to enjoy the country-themed Sky Blast fireworks show presented by T-Mobile.

Prior to Saturday’s game, the Padres will observe a moment of silence in remembrance of San Diego City Club President George Mitrovich. Mitrovich passed away in late July at age 84.

San Diego Padres vs. Boston Red Sox - Sunday, August 25 @ 1:10 p.m.

The third annual Players’ Weekend concludes on Sunday. Major League Baseball players will have the opportunity to showcase their passions, backgrounds and interests by putting their own personal touches on what they wear and on the equipment they use all weekend long.

All kids 14 and younger in attendance on Sunday will receive a Kids Swingin’ Friar Book.

As part of the Padres’ year-long 50th Anniversary celebration, the Padres will present a $50,000 check to Make-A-Wish San Diego and reveal a special Wish grant during the pregame ceremony. 14-year-old military dependent Ashlyn will have her wish of seeing a Broadway play in New York granted. Throughout 2019, 11 charitable partners will benefit from the “Padres Thank SD” community initiative in partnership with the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. In total, the Padres Foundation, Sycuan and other organizations will support charitable projects totaling over one million dollars leaving a positive and lasting impact on the community.

A representative from USO San Diego will ring the Ceremonial Mission Bell.

The United States Navy Parachute Team known as the “Leap Frogs” will perform during the pregame ceremonies.

Chris Sichel, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish San Diego, will throw the Ceremonial First Pitch.

USMC Staff Seargeant David Coderman will perform the National Anthem and sing God Bless America during the 7th Inning Stretch.

Nine military Make-A-Wish kids will take the field to greet Padres starters as part of the “Military Take the Field.”

KidsFest presented by Chick-fil-A features bounce houses and other inflatables, games, face painters, balloon artists and more kid-friendly activities in Park at the Park beginning at 10:30 a.m.

From 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., two Padres players will sign autographs at the Park at the Park for Compadres Kids Sunday Signings. A Compadres Kids membership is required to participate. Membership is free, and kids can sign up online at www.padres.com/compadres or in-person on the day of the event.

Following Sunday’s game, kids 14 and under are invited to play catch on the field. Kids and their families can begin lining up following the conclusion of the eighth inning at the top of the ramp leading to the Craft Pier presented by Ballast Point on K Street. Compadres Kids members will receive front-of-the-line privileges by lining up at the Park Blvd Gate Plaza.

Monday is the inaugural Dominican Day presented by Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic at Petco Park, a day to recognize the San Diego Dominican community. A representative from the Ministry of Tourism with throw the Honorary First Pitch and present each of the Dominican players on the roster with a special plaque during the pregame ceremony. In celebration of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, the Padres, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will host a Naturalization ceremony prior to Monday’s game in an effort to bring people together to enjoy America’s favorite pastime and feel a sense of community and connection to the Constitution. A group of 50 new citizens representing 40 different countries will take the Oath of Allegiance in unison during the pregame ceremony, joined by the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.

KAABOO Day is on Monday featuring pre-game performances on the Sycuan Stage from 5:00-6:30 p.m. by KAABOO Discovers winner Evan Diamond & The Library and runner up WYO. The night will also include in game entertainment and opportunities for fans to receive prizes and special offers.

The Padres Estrellas program presented by ARCO continues its partnership with local school districts and non-profits to support the effort to reduce high school dropout rates and improve health and fitness behaviors within the Hispanic youth population. On Wednesday, the Padres, in partnership with SDG&E, will continue their season-long “Going to Bat for San Diego” initiative. The partnership aims to honor the 13 local organizations dedicated to keeping San Diego safe and clean. Representatives from the American Lung Association will be presented with a $50,000 check from the Padres Foundation and SDG&E during the pregame ceremony.
